Farewell Symposium for Prof. Dr. Hannie Kremer - Celebrating a Legacy in Otogenetics
17 January 2025
We had the honor of attending the farewell symposium for Prof. Dr. Hannie Kremer at Radboudumc, an event that highlighted her significant contributions to the field of otogenetics. From the discovery of genetic hearing disorders to advancements in diagnosis, preclinical therapy development, and ongoing clinical trials, the symposium celebrated both past achievements and ongoing work that Hannie played a central role in. We were privileged to present our research on preclinical inner ear therapy development using inner ear organoids, contributing to the translation of research into potential treatments. It was inspiring to witness the strength of the international network Hannie has helped build and the profound impact of her work on genetic hearing loss. The symposium concluded with Hannie’s valedictory lecture, a reflection on her exceptional career. She remains a role model in otogenetics, and we look forward to continuing collaborations with her colleagues to further advance inner ear therapies and bring new hope to patients with genetic hearing loss.
